Cal Collins - Cal Collins In San Francisco (CJ-71)
Prepare to fall in love with one of jazz's most under-celebrated guitarists! Recorded in 1978 for Concord Jazz, this wonderful trio set captures Cal Collins in relaxed, inspired form alongside bassist Monty Budwig and drummer Jeff Hamilton. Collins was a self-taught guitarist who learned his art on the streets and farms of Indiana before becoming Benny Goodman's guitarist in 1976, and his straight-ahead bop playing with deep swing-era roots is an absolute delight. Highlights include Miles Davis's Blue Haze, Miles' Theme, Sometimes I'm Happy, and a lovely reading of So What. Effortlessly swinging, deeply musical, and hugely enjoyable.

Erroll Garner - Gone-Garner-Gonest (COL CL 617)
What a title — and what an album! Released on Columbia Records in 1955, Gone-Garner-Gonest is Erroll Garner in full, glorious flight, delivering a magnificent set of standards including I Can't Get Started, Yesterdays, Lullaby In Rhythm, and Bewitched. His unclassifiable piano style — simultaneously rooted in swing and open to modern jazz — is utterly compelling throughout. Erroll Garner - Campus Concert (SE4361)
Bittersweet and absolutely beautiful, Campus Concert holds the distinction of being the final live album Erroll Garner released during his lifetime! Released on MGM Records in 1966 and recorded in 1962, it features the pianist in wonderful form, accompanied by his classic trio and performing for an enthusiastic audience of mostly young fans.
