The lineup is magnificent — Ruby Braff on trumpet, the velvet-toned Vic Dickenson on trombone, the wonderfully idiosyncratic Pee Wee Russell on clarinet, and Jimmy Woode on bass. Together they deliver traditional jazz and swing in a manner that's utterly free of cliché — open, inventive, and brimming with the special magic that only live music can produce.

Whether caressing a gorgeous ballad or playfully sauntering through an original blues, Hodges makes every note sing. His stunning interpretation of 'I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me' alone is worth the price of admission.
