The lineup is magnificent — Ruby Braff on trumpet, the velvet-toned Vic Dickenson on trombone, the wonderfully idiosyncratic Pee Wee Russell on clarinet, and Jimmy Woode on bass. Together they deliver traditional jazz and swing in a manner that's utterly free of cliché — open, inventive, and brimming with the special magic that only live music can produce.
